Cheapside, the name given this side of Edenton’s southern-most block of Broad Street, catered to dock activity and harbor traffic during the nineteenth century.
The entire block burned to the ground in 1893, but was rebuilt in brick the following year. Many businesses have operated here during the past 100 years, including the S. Hobowsky Shoe Repair Shop, the Tynch & Topping Fish Market and currently, Waterman’s Grill.
